Theakstons Peculiar IPA

Theakstons Peculiar IPA arrived in at the Three Cups in July. It is a relatively new product to the market and it is a welcome addition to our range of real ales.

The Theakstons brewery describe this ale below:
The dramatic growth throughout the world in consumer appreciation of the character and styles of top fermented craft keg ale combined with new and exciting varieties of traditional ingredients has enabled our team of brewers to give full rein to their brewing creativity and skill. Peculier IPA is our modern take on a beer style first developed in the 19th century for our armed forces serving in India. Using a mix of new world hops together with some grown here in Yorkshire and infusing them into a mash of finest locally grown malted barley and then cold filtering rather than pasteurising, we have created a beer of outstanding character and delicate flavour.

Official Tasting Notes:
Theakston Peculier IPA is a new world craft keg IPA brewed in Masham using a combination of Cluster, Simcoe & Bullion hops from the US and locally grown hops infused into a mash of finest quality malted barley to produce a delicate ale of Pine and new world hop aroma and subtle mango, guava and honey flavour.

Real ale is beer that is brewed using ale yeast, and which undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle or cask in which it is stored. It is a quality living food product made from malted barley, hops, water, yeast and occasionally other flavouring ingredients like fruit or herbs. It is living because live yeast is still present in the ale, and the fermentation continues in the vessel it is contained in up to the point at which it is served. Continue reading
